Vernon & District Immigrant Services Society provides free English language training through the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. Students learn and practice English through settlement -related topics such as housing, banking, transportation and community resources while learning more about the community of Vernon through field trips and guest speakers.
Three language levels are offered: Beginner, Intermediate and Upper -Intermediate/Advanced. Classes CLB Level 4 and above are eligible for the English Language Requirement when applying for Canadian citizenship. An English level placement test will be taken to determine your current CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) English level and the appropriate class.
